Houston Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter awards four different scholarships to students currently in high school, undergraduate, and graduate programs here in the Houston area. Each of these scholarships are one-time awards and have different criteria and guidelines specific to each.

The criteria and guidelines for each scholarship are listed below. Review the criteria and apply to the scholarship you qualify for.

The 2026 application period opens on January 13, 2026. Completed applications should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on March 13, 2026.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Aster Lee Mock Scholarship
Metropolitan Community Scholarship

  1. Be an African American male or female graduating high school or hold a GED equivalent.
  2. Upload a 60 second video responding to one of the prompts listed on the application

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Charles C. and Junell Sims Drisdale Memorial Scholarship

  1. Be a junior or senior undergraduate student attending a historically Black college or university (HBCU).
  2. Major in Education or Science.
  3. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Reisha Beaty Ferrier T.O.R.C.H. Bearer Scholarship
  1. Be an African American male or female graduate student at any accredited college or university.
  2. Be currently enrolled within the first three years of a graduate degree program.
  3. Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program that culminates in the attainment of a master’s, professional, or doctoral degree.
  4. Upload Personal Statement - Applicant should craft a personal statement that meets the following requirements:
    • 350-500 words
    • Provides details of the applicant’s professional and leadership experiences.
    • Provides an explanation of the applicant's professional goals.
